CASE STUDY

Balwyn High School is a Year 7 to 12 co-educational, non-selective government school, located in the Melbourne suburb of Balwyn North, Victoria. Established in 1954, it’s current enrolment of over 2,200 students and 200 staff, has seen it grow to become one of the largest secondary schools in Victoria.
Balwyn High Schools over-arching goal is to nurture and develop each student so that they leave school with the skills, knowledge and values necessary to be world-ready, compassionate and socially responsible young adults. The school prioritises collegiate observations to support teacher growth and support students in the classroom.

A few years later, the school installed recording equipment in select classrooms to support lesson capture. This allowed teaching staff to record lessons and review them with mentors or colleagues at a convenient time, without requiring live observation. However, feedback revealed some limitations—lessons had to be scheduled in specific rooms, which could disrupt the natural flow of teaching. Additionally, the setup was not suitable for certain subjects, such as Science, Art, and Sport, which require specialised classroom environments.
Balwyn High discovered the LCS910 at EduTech conference whilst visiting the KISS stand. They were immediately impressed by its portability and versatility for classroom and event recordings. Shortly after, the school adopted the system, putting it to use across a range of activities. Its two PTZ cameras and multiple inputs allow a single operator to manage the entire setup with ease.

“The LCS910 has given our teachers the ability to record their classroom lesson and review the footage to improve their teaching practice…The ease of usability means it’s easy to instruct others how to use it and we have been able to get students to take ownership.”

The portable and wireless design allows for flexible usage across a wide range of environments and activities. Balwyn High intend to also use the LCS910 system for additional use cases mentioned below, including:
Record or live stream matches, training, and PE lessons, enabling performance review, coaching, and sharing with the school community.
Empower students to create their own video content for assignments, school news, or digital portfolios.
Record cooking demonstrations or student assessments, allowing self-review, teacher feedback, and showcasing student work.
Capture detailed demonstrations of experiments, ensuring students can revisit complex processes and safety procedures
Document creative processes for an archive of student progress and artistic development.
